13th Meeting of the EU Public Sector Information Working Group

A report of the 13th Meeting of the EU PSI Working Group is now available. This report highlights the need for a clear definition of The Public Task for PSIH since there is increasing overlap between the Public Sector and the Private Sector in the commercial exploitation of PSI. The Commission, however, points out that the definition of Public Task is a national matter. This problem is particularly acute in the Meteorological sector where some NMHS have a mandate to compete with the private sector in the market place while controlling the supply of the "raw material" that the private sector needs to generate its products.
