Overall experience of the transition of the KNMI commercial wing into
independent company Weerbureau HWS |
“We think it will not be possible to
have a level playing field. We used to be part of the Royal Netherlands
Meteorological Institute (KNMI). We truly believed that we operated in
an honest manner at that point in time. Nevertheless our cost structure
which has to be the same basically, then and now, doesn't even look
like the one we used to have at KNMI. Many costs were not calculated.
If a colleague of another department helps you out for half a day, why
bother about an invoice? My advice would be that if an NMS operates on
the commercial market, this has to be done in a separate entity and at
a physically separated location.”
